Breakfast at the Ghumans
Today the hubby was home and I had the energy this morning to make a topically Punjabi breakfast. Usually we just have a coffee or chai, fruit, eggs, and or something else. With our busy and constantly changing schedule we do not have time to sit down and eat. So this morning was perfect!I started off making the dough in our kitchen aid mixer... (absolutely love it! No more kneading the dough by hand!) than on the side I scrambled eggs with our Indian spices: salt, pepper, garam masala, ginger power, cumin seed, and red pepper power. I took out my waffle maker to make the eggs... this is a great alternative that me and my husband love! You pour the eggs on the waffle maker and close it && within seconds it's DONE!
So after the eggs were done, I started making the parathas. You will need plain flour, oil (of your choice, I like olive oil or grape seed oil), and salt.
- Make small round dough balls, then you roll them out until they are thin.
- Pour oil and salt in the middle. Spread the mix with your figure over the entire dough.
- Fold the sides of the round dough, so they are over lapping one another
- Than do the same thing again with the remained sides... It should be a square now!
- Now you place it on a hot griddle. Cook both sides until its golden brown... Wa La !
Now since this blog is about skin. I have to say this can be a heavy and oily breakfast. BUT you can substitute ingredients to make it healthy. Like use whole wheat dough, do not use too much salt, use a healthier oil & not use too much.
We usually eat it with homemade yogurt on the side and chai... There you go. That was our breakfast this morning.
